Our 2x2 timber (47x50mm) is a lightweight timber finished to an approx size of 45mm x 45mm. Kiln dried and regularised for straightness and treated for resistance against moisture and pests, our lengths of 2x2 timber are made from high-quality, sustainably sourced timber.

  • Suitable for lightweight partitioning in sheds or in decorative interior projects
  • FSC Certified Timber
  • Regularised with eased corners
  • Kiln Dried for additional strength and durability

What is 2x2 Timber in mm?

Known as  2x2 timber, the dimensions of this timber in millimetres are actually 47 x 50mm. However, as our timber is “regularised” (meaning it is planed to create a smooth and even piece of timber the entire way down the length) in reality the measurements are closer to a 45 x 45mm measurements. For the large majority of projects, this 3mm tolerance is negligible.

What is 2x2 Treated Timber Used For?

2x2 Timber is a small and lightweight timber ideal for light structural projects such as partitioning and stud wall building in small sheds and garden buildings, or for building garden structures such as trellises and planters. Furthermore, it is often used in the home for projects such as furniture making and trim - particularly for built-in projects such as shelving. For structural projects required to hold significant weight, our structural timber may be more suitable.

What Does Kiln Dried Mean?

Kiln-dried timber is a popular choice for various woodworking and construction projects due to its numerous advantages over air-dried wood. The controlled environment of a kiln allows for quicker and more uniform drying, which helps minimise warping, cracking, and other defects often associated with air-drying methods. This consistency in moisture content contributes to increased stability and strength in the wood, making it a preferred option for furniture making, construction, and other applications where quality and reliability are essential.
