What are wooden gravel boards / carcassing used for?

Wooden gravel boards are commonly used in fencing installations to provide a durable barrier between the ground and the fence panels. Serving as a protective base, these boards prevent soil and moisture from coming into direct contact with the fence panels, reducing the risk of rot and decay over time. Additionally, they help maintain the structural integrity of the fence by offering stability and support, and add a “finished” look to the asethetics of the fence. Occasionally they are used for other outdoor projects such as raised beds. 

What Does Rough Sawn Mean?

This timber is rough-sawn, as opposed to our regularised C16 and C24 timber, or planed timber, which are planed to achieve a very smooth finish. Rough sawn timber has not undergone this further processing which makes it ideal for a more natural finish in outdoor settings and makes it a more affordable product, perfect for garden projects. 

What Lengths Does 22x150mm Carcassing Come In?

We sell our wooden gravel boards by the metre, so when ordering be sure to enter the total meterage you need in the quantity box. Most of the time they are supplied in 4.8m lengths, but lengths may vary depending on stock in your location.
