Ballast is a ready-blended mixture of sand and stone aggregate, designed to be mixed with cement and water to produce concrete quickly and efficiently. By combining both fine and coarse aggregates in a single material, ballast saves time on site by eliminating the need to source and proportion separate aggregates, so simply add cement and water to achieve a consistent, reliable concrete mix. Its versatility makes it one of the most practical and widely used aggregates for both domestic and commercial construction projects.

  • Minimum packed weight of 800kg +/- 5%.
  • Can be used for multiple purposes.
  • Can be used to fill voids in construction projects.
  • Delivered and unloaded in bulk bags for large projects.
  • Actual weight may vary depending on moisture content.
  • Ideal for concreting and general building use.
  • Resistant to fire.
  • Sourced locally.

How to Use Ballast

  • When using ballast as a sub-base or fill material, compact it firmly in layers to eliminate voids, ensure stability, and prevent future movement or settlement.
  • For best results, mix only what you need and use promptly once combined with cement and water, as the mixture will begin to set and lose workability over time.Adjust the ratio as needed depending on your specific application.

Ballast is suitable for a wide range of applications, from shed bases and garage floors to driveways, hard standing areas, and general groundwork. Whether you are laying foundations, filling voids, or constructing pathways and steps, it provides a strong, reliable concrete mix for both domestic and commercial projects.
