What is a Woodworm and Wet Rot Wood Treatment?

This wood treatment is a type of chemical treatment designed to protect wooden surfaces from decay, rot, insect infestation, or prevent re-infestation. Typically available in liquid form, it is applied to the surface of the wood to penetrate its fibres and create a protective barrier. They may contain biocides, fungicides, and other additives that inhibit the growth of mould, mildew, and wood-destroying organisms, and prevent attack from woodworm and pests.

How to Use Wood Treatment

To effectively use Cuprinol 5 Star Wood Treatment, ensure the surface is clean and free from any previous finishes. Then, apply it evenly using a brush requiring typically 2-3 coats, applying the subsequent coats after the previous has soaked in. Once applied, allow the preservative to dry fully before installing plastic or rubber-backed layers (eg. flooring) on top. Regular maintenance and inspection are key to ensuring long-term protection.

Where to Use Wood Preserver

Wood preservers are typically used on outdoor wooden structures and surfaces exposed to weathering and moisture, such as decking, sheds, fencing, pergolas, garden furniture, and exterior siding.
