This 3x3 (75mm x 75mm) Arris Rail is designed for use in fencing - typically to anchor and secure feather edge close-boarded fencing and is treated for resistance to moisture and pests, with a slight brown tint. Cut diagonally from a square-section length of timber to achieve the triangular shape, the 75mm x 75mm measurement refers to the size of square-section timber that it was cut from.

    What is Arris Rail?

    Arris rail is a triangular length of wood cut designed for use in close board fencing. They are secured to the fence posts most typically by cutting the ends of each length down to fit a socket within the fence post, which creates a sturdy and secure base to hold fence panels or boards. Sometimes they are instead secured with Arris rail brackets. It is treated to UC3 to help protect against moisture and pest damage, and is suitable for outdoor use with no direct contact with the ground.

    How Arris Rail is Installed

    Arris rail is typically installed horizontally between two fence posts, and secured two the posts by inserting each rail (usually with a tapered end) into a notch or mortice made in the fence post, or by using metal Arris rail fixing brackets that hold the rail and are secured to the fence post. Once the rails are firmly secured with appropriate fixings, the fence panels or boards (typically feather edge boards) are secured to the rail to form the complete fence. 

    What Length is 75mm x 75mm Arris Rail?

    Our wooden 75mm Arris rail is sold in a 3m length and is cut from pressure treated timber.
