What is 6x2 Timber in mm?

The designation "6x2" in inches translates to 47x150mm in metric measurements. However, the actual size of 6x2 Timber in mm is slightly reduced due to the regularisation process applied to our structural timber. Regularisation involves machining the length to achieve a consistent width and thickness throughout.

As a result, the "finished" size might be a few millimeters smaller than 47x150mm, typically closer to 45mm x 145mm. This minor variance is generally insignificant in the majority of projects and is a standard characteristic of using 6x2 regularised timber joists.

Our 6x2 Timber joists are available in 2.4m, 3m, 3.6m, 4.2m and 4.8m. We try to keep all of these lengths in stock wherever possible, but on occasions where stock levels or availability in your area is low, we may substitute for a longer length.
