Our 2m x 20m weed membrane is designed to allow water to penetrate the soil, but deprive weeds of sunlight needed to germinate and grow, keeping your gravelled areas neat and free of weeds. Pair with our range of decorative gravel or builder’s gravel to keep gravel paths, seating areas and driveways clear of weeds, or use in allotments, greenhouses and polytunnels to keep walkways clear.

Effective Weed Suppression

Our 20m x 2m black weed suppressant membrane is designed to provide simple and effective weed control in your garden or landscaping projects. Made from a woven polypropylene textile, this weed control membrane is engineered to effectively prevent weed growth while allowing water to penetrate.

Optimal Size for Versatile Applications

This weed suppressant membrane measures 20 metres in length and 2 metres in width, making it perfect for a wide range of applications. Whether you're working on a large-scale landscaping project, creating a gravel pathway, or setting up a flower bed, this membrane offers ideal coverage to suit your needs, and can be cut to fit any space.

Effective Weed Prevention Through Light Blockage

The key feature of weed suppressant membrane is its ability to block sunlight, which is essential for preventing weed growth. By eliminating light penetration, the membrane effectively starves weeds of the essential energy they need to thrive. This helps maintain a pristine, weed-free environment in your garden or landscaping area.

Permeable Design for Water and Air Flow

Whilst weed control membrane is highly effective at blocking light, it is also designed to allow the free passage of water and air. The permeable structure ensures that rainwater can easily seep through the membrane, reaching the soil and ensuring planted areas of the garden are not flooded or deprived of moisture.

Reusable Weed Control Solution

As well as in landscaping projects, this weed control fabric is also useful as a protective layer for use in allotments or other vegetable or flower beds that sit empty over winter periods. Using a weed control membrane during winter months will help protect soil and prevent weeds, saving valuable time or use of harsh chemicals.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is a Damp Proof Membrane?

Damp Proof Membranes (DPMs) are barriers often used in construction to prevent moisture from penetrating floors and walls. Made typically from a thick polyethylene sheeting, DPMs are often laid under concrete floors and walls to block moisture rising from the ground, thereby protecting interior spaces from dampness and mould.

What is a Breather Membrane?

A Breather Membrane is a semi-permeable layer that is designed to allow water vapour to escape from within a building while preventing liquid water from entering. They are installed on the “cold” side of a wall or roof structure (the “outward face” to ensure that the structure remains dry and free from condensation, which can lead to structural damage and poor insulation performance.

What is a Vapour Control Layer?

Vapour Control Layers (VCLs) are installed on the “warm” side of a wall or roof structure to limit the amount of water vapour that can pass through the structure. Unlike breather membranes, VCLs are designed to block vapour rather than allow it to pass, which helps prevent condensation within walls and roofs that leads to insulation degradation and structural damage.

What is a Gas Barrier?

A Gas Barrier is a membrane used to prevent hazardous gases, such as radon, methane, and carbon dioxide, from entering a building. These barriers are especially important in areas with contaminated ground or high levels of natural gas emissions. Made from robust, impermeable materials, gas barriers are installed beneath the foundation to provide a protective seal, requiring an airtight seal with appropriate overlap tape.

What is a Radiant Barrier?

Many of our multifoil insulation products function as an insulation, a Vapour Control / Breather Membrane, and a Radiant Barrier. Radiant Barriers are designed to reflect radiant heat rather than absorb it. These barriers are typically installed in the attic or roof space to reduce heat transfer, keeping buildings cooler in summer and warmer in winter. By reflecting heat away, radiant barriers improve the energy efficiency of a building.
