Rockwool Hardrock Multi-Fix Recovery board is an non-combustible, super-dense mineral wool insulation board with a mineral fibre glass tissue facing, designed for use in the refurbishment of flat roofs - particularly in commercial buildings such as schools. Intended to be placed directly onto the roofing membrane, it creates a level surface upon which to add a waterproofing system such as torch-applied bitumen waterproofing, whilst providing additional acoustic and thermal insulating properties.

  • 30mm thickness
  • Suitable for use in flat roof refurbishments
  • Non-combustible board suitable for torch-applied waterproofing
  • Install directly over existing roofing membrane
  • Euroclass A2-s1, d0 resistance to fire
  • Thermal Conductivity Rating of 0.039 W/mK

Frequently Asked Questions

What is Acoustic Roll Insulation?

Acoustic roll, also known as sound insulation roll or acoustic insulation blanket, is a type of mineral wool insulation designed to reduce the transmission of airborne noise between rooms or floors in a building, mostly used as internal wall insulation or floor insulation. Most acoustic insulation comes in rolls of mineral wool insulation of varying thicknesses and densities to suit the depth of your wall or floor. Our most popular acoustic roll products are manufactured by Knauf, Isover and Rockwool, and are made from a glass mineral wool.

Installing Acoustic Insulation

To install acoustic insulation roll, simply roll it out evenly between the joists or studs in walls, floors, or ceilings, ensuring it fits snugly without any gaps.

What Sizes Does Acoustic Insulation Come in?

Our acoustic insulation is available in a variety of lengths and thicknesses, but the common theme across most brands is their width, as they are specifically sized at 600mm to fit between the studs in most modern stud walls. The most common thicknesses are 25mm, 50mm, 75mm and 100mm. When selecting a thickness, choose the closest size to the depth of your cavity - try to avoid more compression than is necessary.

How to Calculate U Value of Acoustic Roll Insulation

The U-value (thermal transmittance) of a building component such as a wall, roof, or window, measures its thermal conductivity or how easily heat can pass through it. The lower the U-value, the better the insulation. To calculate the U-value, you typically need to consider several factors, including the materials used, their thicknesses, and any air gaps. A general formula for calculating the U-value:

U = 1 over R

Where:

U = U Value

R = The total thermal resistance of the building component, including all layers of materials and air gaps.

However, with Acoustic insulation, some manufacturers do not supply a R value, as the primary focus of the product is acoustic performance rather than thermal, and it is therefore not tested against that criteria. Though virtually all acoustic insulation will have some thermal insulating properties, Acoustic insulation should be selected where sound resistance is the primary goal, rather than thermal.
