Terms of service

Definitions

In this agreement the terms have the following meanings:

  1. “Customer” means the user or buyer purchasing a product from DIY Building Supplies Limited.
  2. “Supplier” means any supplier who DIY Building Supplies Limited markets the products of.
  3. “Agreement” means the contract between DIY Building Supplies Limited and the Customer to which these conditions will apply.
  4. “Product” is the item that DIY Building Supplies Limited will market on behalf of the Supplier.
  5.  Our product images are for illustration purposes only. Actual products may differ slightly from the images shown on our website.

Scope

This Agreement shall apply to all Products purchased by a Customer via the DIY Building Supplies Limited web site. By agreeing to these Terms your statutory rights are not affected.

Delivery

When an order is placed DIY Building Supplies Limited will send a confirmation order to the Supplier. If the item is to be delivered direct from the Supplier to the Customer, The Supplier will add their contact details to the delivery note. This is the first point of contact if there is any problem with the order.

Delivery for all products except Paving is 2-3 working days. This is based on the order being placed before 3pm.

When the Product has been dispatched the Supplier will notify DIY Building Supplies Limited.

All quoted delivery prices are for most UK Mainland addresses. Northern Ireland (BT), Isle of Wight (PO30-37), Isle of Man (IM), Scottish Highlands and Orkney Isles (PA, ML, EH, KA, G, KY, PH, DD, AB, IV, KW), Outer Hebrides and the Shetland Isles (HS, ZE) will incur additional charges and may also experience delivery delays.

Damages

If you receive your order and one or more of your items are faulty or damaged, this must be reported within 24 hours in order for us to arrange a quick exchange for you. Please email support@diybuildingsupplies.co.uk with the following:

1. Order number
2. Item(s) affected
3. Number of affected items
4. Photographic evidence of affected items (please attach)

Once this has been received, we will aim to exchange your items within 2-3 working days (this may be subject to change). On some occasions, we may offer a full or partial refund but this will be reviewed upon the receival of the supporting evidence.

Alternatives

In rare cases an alternative insulation brand may be supplied of equivalent dimensions and thermal conductivity.

If you wish to amend your order please contact us at sales@diybuildingsupplies.co.uk as soon as possible.

Returns

If for any reason you wish to return your purchase, we will offer a refund or an exchange as long as this is requested within 14 days of receiving your order. Goods must be returned  in perfect condition and accompanied by the relative order confirmation. DIY Building Supplies Limited is not liable for postage, shipping or taxes due on returned goods. Please take into account postage and shipping times when returning goods.

A manufacturer’s restocking charge may also apply on certain products such as non-stock items, which may be up to 30% of the purchase price, and you will be notified of this amount when you request a refund or exchange.

Refunds will be processed on the same day but may take 2-3 business days for your bank to return the funds.

Cancellation of an Order

If for any reason you wish to cancel your order, please e-mail sales@diybuildingsupplies.co.uk detailing your order number.

 

Intellectual Property & Copyright

All Products distributed by the Supplier will remain the Supplier’s intellectual property. Any Design produced by a Supplier carries a copyright and cannot be reproduced without written consent.

The Customer will not hold DIY Building Supplies Limited responsible for any infringement of copyright relating to copy contained within a Product.

It is the Supplier’s responsibility to ensure that any Product Design is lawful, does not infringe any Copyright or any other laws.

Alterations to Terms of Business

DIY Building Supplies Limited reserves the right to alter these Terms of Business at any time and will replace the Terms of Business on our web site when we do so.

 

Warranty Information

Shed Anti-Rot Guarantee

Our garden buildings are pre-treated with a water based timber treatment for protection during transit. In order to receive the full 10 year anti-rot guarantee, it is necessary that you treat the garden building with a high quality, spirit-based, timber preservative prior to or shortly after construction. This will protect the timber from weathering and will need to be repeated accordingly in relation to manufacturer’s instructions.

This guarantee covers fungal decay and insect attack

This guarantee does not cover;

  1. Movement, Warping or Splitting of the timber over time;
  2. Damage caused by or as a result of misuse;
  3. Glazing material, joinery or roofing felt. 

The Seller shall not be liable to the Buyer or be deemed to be in breach of the contract by reason of any delay in performing or any failure to perform, any of the Seller’s obligations in relation to the goods, if the delay or failure was due to any cause beyond the Seller’s reasonable control. Without prejudice to the generality of the foregoing, the following shall be regarded as causes beyond the Seller’s reasonable control – Act of God, explosion, flood, storm, fire or accident, war or threat of war, sabotage, civil disturbance or requisition.

This warranty is only valid in the UK.

Validity of Guarantee

The guarantee is invalid if:

  1. The building has not been constructed on a firm, level base;
  2. The building has not been constructed or installed as per the instructions;
  3. The building has been customised or modified in any way;
  4. The person claiming is not the original purchaser of the building;
  5. The building has not been treated immediately once constructed and at least every 12 months thereafter;
  6. The buildings has been touched by an external wall or in contact with a tree or a bush. As this would allow moisture to penetrate the building.
  7. A damp proof membrane is not laid between the floor joists and the base;
  8. Corner joints are not sealed with silicone;
  9. Roofing felt is not properly maintained.

These terms and conditions do not affect your statutory rights.
